Buena Vista Social Club

During 1999, I went once to the lower level of Tubitek, to see the records they had, the underground was dedicated to the World Music, to French Music, or even to some Jazz, if I remember well. It was playing some nice Cuban music that pleased me since the beginning. I asked the person who was there, what was playing, and he passed the record to my hands. It was Buena Vista Social Club, a band of seniors of Cuban music gathered together by Ry Cooder and Nick Gold from World Circuit. Tubitek has disappeared, and so many record houses in Oporto, meanwhile I got the DVD of the movie from Wim Wenders, with the same name, and that shows the musicians in their natural habitat, many of them unfortunately disappeared, namely Compay Segundo, Ruben Gonzalez, e Ibrahim Ferrer, part of the shootings made in DV in Havana, with a color and a special touch from Wim Wenders. The album was very well recorded, and the ambient well captured. To listen or listen once more.
